Academic Director

About the role:

This is a full – time permanent position and it is based in Johannesburg.

The ideal candidate is expected to work closely with Senior Academics, Programme Directors and Senior Management to deliver highly-rated learning, higher degree supervision, world class research, and opinion leadership on critical business issues.

What you’ll do:

§ Design and develop frameworks and school specific processes for the delivery of the academic project.

§ Provide strategic direction on curriculum development and reviews.

§ Define teaching and examining standards within the school as set by the university regulations.

§ Oversee the human resource allocation (yearly workloads) to ensure optimal engagement of academic staff.

§ Provide adequate systems and establish structures relevant for the smooth running of the academic project.

§ Manage the finance and budgeting of the academic portfolio and oversee the implementation of the academic teaching and research strategy.

What you’ll need:

§ You have a PhD and 5+ years’ experience in a senior leadership position.

§ You have a passion for building and sustaining scholarship of the highest quality.

§ You have professional experience, management experience, a good record of teaching, research and administration

§ You can work effectively within a diverse community and have a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
